Competitive & Extension Dance Programs
Programs for When You’re Ready to Level Up
What makes these programs different
At The Avenue Performance Studio (Loftus & Yarrawarrah), our Competitive and Extension pathways are designed for dancers who love performing, enjoy being part of a team and are ready to deepen their training.
These programs offer more structure and commitment than recreational classes, while maintaining the supportive, positive culture The Avenue is known for. Whether your child is stepping onto the competitive stage for the first time or refining their skills through extension training, our focus remains the same: confidence, teamwork and personal growth.
What makes these programs different
Our Competitive and Extension pathways are built on encouragement, clarity and care.
Dancers benefit from:

We offer:

- Teen / Senior Hip Hop Crew
Crew dancers explore a range of hip hop styles while training for performances and eisteddfods in a collaborative, inclusive environment. The focus is on musicality, confidence and team connection, with space for dancers to develop their individual style within a group setting.
Performance Troupes
Our Performance Troupes are age-based teams that train together and perform at eisteddfods and events throughout the year.
Performance Troupe dancers work on group routines, stage presence and teamwork, gaining confidence through regular performance opportunities. While competitions are part of the experience, the emphasis is always on growth, pride and supporting one another.
To support safe and effective training, troupe dancers also participate in additional technique classes such as ballet and conditioning, helping build strength, control and resilience.
We currently offer troupe groups across the following divisions:

How to Join
We aim to keep our Performance and Extension pathways open, transparent and supportive, so families understand exactly how each program works.
Performance Teams (Troupes & Hip Hop Crew)
Our Performance Teams are open to all students who are ready to commit to team training and performances.
- Main intake: January each year.
- Mid-year entries: In recent years, we have welcomed some younger dancers mid-year where spaces are available, and readiness allows.
- Assessment approach: Placement is based on readiness, commitment and group balance rather than a formal audition process.
If your child is enthusiastic about performing and ready to be part of a team environment, we encourage you to get in touch and start a conversation with our team.
Extension Programs – Avenue Elevate & Avenue X
Our Extension programs are designed for dancers who are ready for focused technical development and a higher level of commitment.
- Entry is audition-based.
- Intake occurs once per year, at the beginning of the year.
- These programs require strong technical foundations and a high level of dedication.
Avenue Elevate supports dancers looking to refine and strengthen their technique, while Avenue X is our most advanced extension pathway for highly committed dancers.
